Enlisting for the AIF from the UK

Does anyone know whether UK citizens could enlist for the Australian Infantry Forces in WWI ? I have found service records on the National Archives of Australia website for an Angelo Gay and his brother Leander Gay.
I’ve had a closer look at Angelo’s Attestation papers and notice that he joined the AIF in 1915 when he was 22 years old. Most of the “addresses” mentioned, ie where he was born, Leeds, Yorkshire, and his mother’s address in Balham, London, all point to the notion that he enlisted from the UK, but is that correct? Did he arrive in Australia before that ? and it’s interesting that nowhere on the form does it give where he was living at the time. He had been in a Reserve Unit – 3rd Battalion Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry before his joining the AIF, and a comment is made where that information is given, “6 months Emigration”. Maybe being part of a Reserve Unit, or a volunteer, allowed him to apply to emigrate to Australia?? Can anyone give more information on this chap? I have looked at the public trees on Ancestry.com by the way, but I'm trying to piece the jigsaw together without that information, which may be wrong. Thanks in anticipation

PASHBEE - Devon/Cornwall - 1841/51

Jane Bastian (widow) married George Gardener Pashbee (common sailor) on 17 Sep 1835 in Falmouth. Jane was born in Devon in 1808 and George was born in Falmouth in Jan 1810.

In a will, dated 1848, Jane is described as "wife of George Pashbee, mariner, of Devonport". In 1851 Jane is shown as a widow living in Totnes, and in 1852 she married George Gill in Totnes. I have identified Jane's parentage, and baptism, from the marriage certificate.

On an index of 1841 there is a Jane Pasbey, b c 1816, living in Falmouth, born "in county", which is the nearest, but poor, match I can find. On a "Pay to view" site I see there is a record of George's merchant Navy career, which I cannot access.

I would appreciate help in tracing Jane in 1841 (quite possibly George may have been at sea), and finding record of George's death prior to 1852. I realise that this could be anywhere - even at sea.

First one I've seen like this from early NSW records:

V18411268 121A/1841 HAWTHORNE CHARLOTTE - -

Roman Catholic Baptisms solemnized in the Parish of East Maitland in the County of Northumberland in the Year 1856
No When Baptised: ? [margin] August 1856 Aged 15 Years Charlotte Hawthorne - Abode: - Sponsor: Mary O'Neil By whom the Ceremony was performed: John Kenny R.C.C.

Most curious - married by a Presbyterian minister but one who was known not to ask too many questions:

609/1861 POWELL STRAFFORD J - HAWTHORNE CHARLOTTE - SYDNEY

The Sydney Morning Herald - Wednesday 11 September 1861 p.1
MARRIAGES
On the 4th of March, at Elizabeth-street, by the Rev. Dr. Fullerton, by special license, Stradford James Powell, of the Glebe, to Miss Charlotte Hawthorn, of this city.

No trace of Stratford/Strafford/Stradford or Charlotte after 1865.

Looking for some help with Helena and siblings. Taylor.

Hi everyone, I am trying to locate a Helena Taylor and also her siblings in my family tree. Any help anyone can give would be great.

Ok, il start with what ive managed to discover so far...

Helena was born 1890, Wheelton, Lancashire to Rebecca Taylor (mn snailham b1864 d1929) and John Taylor (b1861).

Her siblings were -
Nancy (b 1884)
Minietta Elizabeth (b1885)
Thomas (my gt grandfather) (b1886-d1946)
Dinah (b1889)

The last census i have found her in is the 1891 census, still living in Wheelton.

Whilst researching her mother i came across a passenger list from liverpool to halifax canada listing all the family listed apart from John. (14 Sept 1901)

Also came across more passenger lists coming back and forth between liverpool and canada listing Rebecca Taylor and Helena... none of the other siblings.

Its as if the other siblings disappeared which is quite strange especially as Dinah the youngest of all siblings was still an infant and never traveled back with sister and mother.

Cant work out for sure if Helena went back to canada and stayed, as i know her mother definately came back and passed away in 1929 Ingol, Preston. In Rebeccas will, Helena and Thomas are the benefacts. Also it states Helena is still unmarried. Which in theory should make finding her easier as she still has maiden name...?

Any help in finding whether she stayed in Canada or did indeed come back like her brother thomas and mother to the uk would be really appreciated. Also any insight into what happened to her other sisters.

Apologies to go on abit of a tangent, always better to give too much info than too little...but if i have missed any info out that someone thinks could help please just ask.

TaylorTree.

After a long break, I am re starting my hunt and I need to re check my information as I now dont think any of it is correct

Can some one do me a 1891 census on Silvester Henry John Dunn born 1880. He should be living in Bridport Dorset and his fathers name is also Silvester. I know from Silvester Henry Johns marriage certificate in 1903 that his father at that time was a farmer. I have no idea of earlier occupation and i have no idea at all of silvester henry johns mothers name.
